Our Story
In Africa, talent is everywhere, but opportunities are not. Nine in ten children in sub-Saharan Africa cannot read by the age of 10, according to UNICEF.
For Patrick Okorie, better known as Patoranking, this reality is personal. Growing up in Ebute Metta, Lagos, he saw firsthand how lack of access to quality education and resources held many young people back. He knew that talent alone is not enough, opportunity is key.
The Patoranking foundation is a reflection of Patoranking’s commitment to empowering African talent—built on a simple but powerful vision: to ensure that young Africans, regardless of their background, have access to the education, mentorship and the support they need to reach their full potential. Because exceptional leaders and changemakers can come from anywhere, if given the chance.

OUR IMPACT
Since its inception in 2018, the Patoranking Foundation has been committed to transforming the lives of young Africans. Our journey has been marked by significant milestones, each reflecting our unwavering dedication to education, entrepreneurship and community progress.
Educational
- 253 Full Scholarships: We have directly sponsored 253 young talents through the Patoranking Scholarship, providing full scholarships from primary and secondary school through to university levels, including 170 students within several secondary schools have been fully sponsored to five schools in Patoranking’s home region of eastern Nigeria.
- ALU Patoranking Scholarship: In partnership with the African Leadership University, we launched a scholarship program that fully covers tuition and accommodation expenses for 10 selected beneficiaries, fostering academic excellence and leadership skills.
Community
- PACEP Football Astro-Turfs: In July 2024, we inaugurated our first football astro-turf in Nigeria, part of the Patoranking Community Empowerment Programme (PACEP). This initiative aims to build over 100 training pitches in underserved communities across Africa, creating safe, drug-free spaces for socialization and training.
Innovative Partnerships
- Patoranking Foundation Tech Scholarship: In June 2024, we announced a partnership with ALX Africa to provide 40 innovative and creative young students access to life-changing technology courses, some lasting up to three years.
- Brooke House College: In partnership with Brooke House College, we launched the inaugural World Best U17 Football Tournament, providing opportunities for young football talents.
- South African High Commission: In collaboration with the South African High Commission, we hosted the Nelson Mandela Soccer Challenge, which led to fully paid scholarships for three students at Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School.
Impact in 2024
The year 2024 alone, we directly empowered 5,192 young talents and indirectly inspired close to 61,046 individuals through our various initiatives.
